With
45
entries
in
seven
daffodil
classes,
Horsham
Horticultural
Society’s
annual
Spring
Show
got
off
to a
fine
start
on 27
March
at
the
North
Heath
Hall.
The
most
popular
classes
proved
to be
specimen
daffodils,
closely
followed
by
three
trumpet
daffodils
and
three
miniatures.
Inevitably
winter
and
early
spring
conditions
resulted
in a
worrying
time
for
exhibitors;
overall
entry
numbers
were
lower
than
last
year,
but
nevertheless
all
but
one
of
the
32
classes
in
the
show
had
participants.
Show
Secretary,
Geoffrey
Kirk,
commented
on
how
pleasing
this
year’s
show
had
been
in
new
members’
participation.
He
said
"Several
of
the
new
members
were
very
successful,
including
one
of
the
cookery
classes
being
won
by a
man!"
After
a
very
stimulating
talk
on
Flower
Arranging
as
part
of
the
Society’s
Winter
Program
there
was a
record
number
of
beautiful
entries
with
the
theme
"Spring
is
Sprung",
the
First
Prize
going
to
Heather
Morten.
Chairman,
Derek
Santer,
thanked
everyone
concerned
with
organising
all
aspects
of
the
show
for
their
sterling
efforts
and
members
and
visitors
for
coming
to
view
the
exhibits.
Derek
distributed
small
fuchsia
plants
for
members
participating
in
the
Betty
Santer
Cup
competition
at
the
Summer
Show
in
August.
The
task
will
be
for
members
to
grow
the
best
fuchsia
plant
between
now
and
then.
The
cups
were
presented
by
the
Society’s

Harris,
