Welcome to the Horsham Horticultural SocietyHorsham & District Horticultural Society was founded in 1945 to promote an interest in horticulture and to encourage gardening in Horsham and the surrounding district. During the winter months from October to March we hold fortnightly meetings, starting at 7.30pm, on Tuesdays at the YMCA, Gorings Mead, Horsham (except 21 October which will be held at Horsham Cricket Club, Cricketfield Road). Our winter meetings consist of illustrated lectures on various aspects of gardening, slides of visits to famous gardens at home and abroad and occasional practical demonstrations. In the summer months we run five coach outings to gardens within daily travelling distance in the South-East and South of England. We also arrange four evening visits to local gardens starting at 6.00pm. Members travel by car to these locations and members without their own transport are encouraged to seek a lift from other members. We run two flower shows a year, a Spring Show at the end of March or early April for spring flowers, and a Summer Show in August. Members are invited to exhibit their flowers, fruit, vegetables, cookery, handicrafts and photographs. Members of the public are cordially invited to come and view our shows during the afternoons of show days and to see what we have to offer to potential members, but exhibiting in the shows is currently limited to our members. So you need to join if you wish to exhibit. Our membership subscription for all this is a modest £5.00 a year, £2.50 from April to September for new members joining after the 31 March. |
